avril is my buddy

I've been listening to Avril's new cd for the past few days...actually I think it's been about a week at this point. But I really like most of it. There's one song that I absolutely cannot stand.

I've decided to make a dress for Anaya. On Saturday, I bought the pattern and the fabric. Actually, I bought two patterns because they were on sale for $1.99...Normally, they are between $10 and $15! Tonight I have to wash the fabric and then tomorrow night my mommy is helping me cut it and get it all ready to be sewn.

This weekend is so much fun. We didn't really do anything extraordinary on Saturday. On Sunday we went to church and then hung out at my mom's until 3-ish. Anaya sang with the kids choir in the evening and then we went bowling! I haven't been bowling in at least 2 years! And really, bowling has never been one of my favorite things. I took a bowling class in college as one of my PE credits, and I think that's probably what made bowling fun for me. Granted, I only bowled like an 80-something, but that's still pretty good for someone that doesn't bowl regularly. And a lot of my problem is that I would get a strike or a spare and then do really bad on my next turn.

my least favorite chore

Mowing is my LEAST favorite chore. I almost hate it. When Justin and I bought this house, we were excited about the large backyard. A place for Anaya to play, maybe eventually get a swingset and possibly a pool or large trampoline. Now, the backyard is my enemy. It needs mowing once a week. It takes at least 45 minutes to mow...sometimes almost 2 hours! When we bought the house, we figured I would have to mow it for the last few weeks of the summer in 2005, and then by summer 2006, Justin's knee would be better and no more mowing for Jenni! Then summer of 2006 came and went and Justin's knee still wasn't better and I was still mowing. Now it is early summer 2007. Justin's knee still isn't better and I'm contemplating how much we can afford to spend to have someone else mow. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I would actually mow once a week instead of once every 2 weeks or so. It's April 28, and I just mowed the backyard, the last time (and only time so far this summer) I mowed the backyard was April 1. On April 1, I bagged all the grass. It took 11 bags! I mow the front yard about every week...mostly whenever my neighbor mows his grass and mine looks scraggly and bad.

If you enlarge the picture, that is of when I mowed on April 1. The grass today was taller than it is in that picture. I hate mowing.

Heidi Swapp's Scrapjack

This is my layout for the Heidi Swapp Scrapjack. Let me know what you think of it. :) I think the orange background needed a little more design to in order to have so much open space, but that could just be me.

I've noticed that lots of people take close-up pictures of parts of their layouts, so I decided to give it a try...Also, I love the fact that there was an orange flower with green polka-dots on it in the bucket of polka-dotted primas that I got. It ended up working so well with this layout of Anaya's dres...

busy busy busy

I've been so busy at work this week. Although I haven't been doing my actual job. We're in production mode right now and everyone (including sales, software and marketing) are in the warehouse producing product. Even though production isn't one of my most favorite things to do, the time flies. Now I'm back at my desk and it's like only 11:05am. It seems so much later and I'm starving. At least when I'm doing production I can get caught up in what I'm doing and I ignore the rumblings of my stomach. And the bosses have been buying us lunch everyday. Mostly so we don't take an hour long lunch and actually leave, because they want us to work work work. But still, free lunch! :)

Anyways, so I'm starving and out of coffee. Things which wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact I'm just sitting here at my computer. Oh well.

I went on a little shopping spree last night with my birthday money. I went to Archivers and got an 8x8 album (25% off), extra pages for the album (50% off), a set of stamps (25% off) and 5 sheets of cardstock (FREE). Then I went to GAP and spent all of my giftcards + $1.41 on a new dress and 3 shirts. Then I hit Kohls and got some really cute new sandals and a strapless bra (I needed it for the GAP dress). Then on to Wal-mart for a Gel-filled bike-seat-cover.

Also, last night, I went to my very first bike ride (by myself). I rode almost 2.5 miles, it took somewhere between 20-30 minutes. And my butt hurt so bad when I got home, which is why I bought the gel-filled bike-seat-cover.

Tonight we get the kiddo. Her mom needs her on what should have been our weekend, so we had to switch it up. Now we get her two weekends in a row and then they get her two weekends in a row. Nothing special planned for this weekend. We went to Crown Center last weekend and she'll probably beg to go there again this weekend, but it ain't gonna happen. That's not an every weekend kind of thing as far as I'm concerned.

Anyways, I'd best get back to work.

25

Today...I am 25.

I don't particularly feel any different. But really, do Birthdays ever make a person feel very different? After 21, you don't really get any new Birthday privileges until you're 55 and you start qualifying for Senior Citizens discounts.

I wish I didn't have to work today. I really want to be at home working on this fabulous layout that I started last night. I still need to order the picture for it though which is why it isn't done. I also have Thank You cards to make. And I have some great ideas for some other layouts.

Someone has a case of the Mondays

My family celebrated my birthday this weekend. On Saturday we had dinner and custard cake (from Culvers) and I opened presents. I mean, I knew just about everything that I was getting. Justin got me a purse (ok, he also got me a digicam, but I got that a month ago when I broke the old one). I didn't know what Matt & Kimbi would get me, but they got me a giftcard to Gap which is cool (I want a new dress). My mom & dad got me a bicycle & helmet and some scrapbooking stuff. I have some birthday money that I'm gonna go spend sometime in the near future.

I have already been for two bike rides with Anaya. She has got to get better at not stopping and staying out of people's front yards. Seriously, she starts to swerve a little towards a yard and instead of turning the handle bars and continuing to pedal, she either a) stops pedaling and turns the handle bar or b) stops pedaling and puts her feet on the ground in an effort to stop before she hits the grass. Either way, it doesn't exactly help us keep going with the bike ride.

Anyways, it was a good weekend and hopefully this evening I'll post some pictures of me on the bike. :) If I weren't at work, I would do it now, but oh well.
