We are no longer waiting.
Ruben's doctor decided to agree with the second opinion which means he will no longer be on workmen's compensation and will be on permanent partial disability.
This means we are now past the waiting. I mean, we're still waiting, obviously, since this just happened today. But we're not waiting like we were.
We were living in a world of we'll do that once Ruben's knee is better. We'll think about going to Europe once Ruben's knee is better and he'll be able to walk around easier. We'll take Red to Disney (Land or World, which is in California?) once Ruben's knee is better.
Now, we know Ruben's knee won't be better. This is it. This is the life we will be living. I will either have to mow the lawn or hire someone to do it for me for the rest of our life.
This means we can start adjusting our plans. Changing our expectations. Realizing there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
And that's better. Better than the uncertainty at least.

Sometimes life throws a challenge at you, and it's how you handle it that will show you the type of person you can be. You can still go to all those places and if walking is too much for him you could alwys get a wheelchair at disney and what not (hey at least you'll always be in the front! bright side)
